Lochtree - Soy Candles

Simple Choices. Better Planet.

At Lochtree, we believe in supporting sustainability while doing our part to give back to the environment. Providing a selection of high-quality, eco-friendly products is just the first step. With every purchase made, Lochtree will further support projects to help promote environmental care and restoration. Together, as a community, we can continue to make strides toward a more sustainable future.

Each of Lochtree’s partnerships create real change for our planet—and each has personal meaning for Lochtree. In particular, Lochtree is passionate about water. Our founder, Henry, grew up around water and took up competitive rowing in high school. His love for water began early. And as time went on, he recognized the need to protect this precious resource.

In 2015, Henry had the privilege of coaching the Junior Mens’ Single US rowing team and traveled to Rio for the Junior World Championships. There, he got an up-close look at the impact water has on community health. Widespread pollution and a lack of safe water created challenges for the local residents and the visiting rowing teams alike.

Our partnerships with OffGridBox and Rozalia Project spring from this knowledge of how important water is to our world. In addition, our partnerships with 1% for the Planet and One Tree Planted create new opportunities for the Lochtree community to join together in working toward positive change.

Current Initiatives

Rozalia Project

Lochtree’s partnership with Rozalia Project comes from our desire to keep our global water resources healthy. The organization’s namesake, Rozalia Belsky, found a new life by traveling across the Atlantic Ocean. Conscious of water’s key role in each of our lives, Rozalia Project works to fight marine pollution.

Cleanup is one of Rozalia Project’s top priorities—one that they invite others to join. Rozalia Project also seeks to stop pollution at its source by educating people on the importance of caring for the planet’s water supplies. In addition, they use innovative technologies to research the effects of pollution on the ocean and wildlife. Water is a crucial part of sustaining life on our planet. This is why Lochtree is proud to partner with Rozalia Project to work toward a cleaner, healthier ocean.

One Percent for the Planet

Lochtree is a member of 1% for the Planet, a global network of diverse organizations and individual members that commit to giving 1% of sales revenue back to the planet. Established in 2002 by Yvon Chouinard (founder of Patagonia) and Craig Matthew (founder of Blue Ribbon Flies), the organization grew out of the simple idea that: “because companies profit from the resources they take from the earth, they should protect those resources.”

1% for the Planet embodies an ideal at the core of Lochtree’s mission—small steps we take together make a significant difference. These seemingly small contributions from around the world create a meaningful change for our planet. Since its founding, the organization has given over $250 million in support to environmental nonprofits.

The simple act of planting a tree has a tremendous impact on both the environment and the community it is planted in. At Lochtree, we have partnered with OneTreePlanted to help us plant one tree for every person that joins the Lochtree community. For every purchase or email subscriber, we pledge to plant one tree. As we continue to grow as an organization, so will our collective impact.

Trees clean our air, help maintain soil health, provide homes for wildlife, and give adventurous children a place to climb. Based in Vermont, One Tree Planted plants trees in North America, Latin America, Asia & Australia, and Africa.
